Fowey Royal Regatta will take place this year from Saturday 15th - Saturday 22nd August in a revised 'Mini Regatta' format.

Racing for cruiser classes will take place over three days from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd August with racing for dinghies on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st August.

Earlier in the week, Fowey's local one design classes, the Fowey Rivers and Troys, will each race in their own championships which in normal years are usually held over weekends in May and June respectively. The Fowey River fleet will also use the event to celebrate their 70th anniversary.

The Port of Fowey Race Organising Committee (POFROC) decided on the revised format due to the cancellation of shoreside events by the Fowey Royal Regatta Committee and the current COVID-19 restrictions which have prevented the usual passages races to and from Falmouth.

For further details about the cruiser and dinghy racing for this year's Fowey Week, please contact the POFROC team by email admin@pofroc.org.uk or visit pofroc.org.uk.

FOWEY ROYAL REGATTA (FRR) 2021

from SUNDAY 15th AUGUST to SATURDAY 21st AUGUST

Regatta Week takes place every year in the third week of August. There is always a good mix of racing afloat and entertainment ashore, with handicap classes and fleets for the serious racers and also for the more relaxed crews.

Racing takes place in St. Austell Bay, unless the weather restricts the dinghy classes, Fowey Rivers and Troys to shorter courses inside the harbour.

For the Cruisers, the week starts on Sunday with the traditional handicap passage race to Flushing, and then the return race from Falmouth the following day. This year there will be one IRC class (Q) and three Byron handicap classes (1, 2 & White Sail), each with two races a day.

The Falmouth Working Boats always enjoy racing and socialising in Fowey. Watching them race in Fowey is always exciting for spectators and they finish their race every day on the club line inside the harbour in front of the RFYC this is usually quite a spectacle.

The Troys, Fowey Rivers and dinghies all start their morning races outside the harbour and complete triangular courses in the bay directly outside Fowey harbour entrance. In the afternoon they all start from a committee boat positioned inside the harbour between the Town Quay and the Albert Quay.
