Update for Number of Crew onboard Cruisers

Published 21:04 on 5 Aug 2020

Dear Sailors,

More great news!

The RYA has released new guidance which has been approved by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport.

This new guidance allows you to sail/race with participants from different households, meaning we can remove the restriction of two-handed racing, but we encourage you all to follow the guidance closely, which includes:

  1. A self-symptom check before going sailing/racing, confirm this to your skipper.
  2. Maintain social distancing. If not possible at all times, consider mitigating actions; which should include wearing a suitable face covering.
  3. Clean down any surfaces touch by those onboard.
  4. Sanitise hands at regular intervals.

The full RYA document, including risk assessment & control measures is attached to this email and is available in the news section on the POFROC website, please read carefully!

The RYA are also encouraging that we maintain a record of all participants for 21 days. We would kindly ask that the skippers of each boat take the responsibility for sending a list of those onboard prior to starting a race, this MUST be sent to Failure to comply may see you scored a DSQ for that particular race.

As a reminder, upon signing the entry form, the skipper of each boat is responsible for ensuring that he/she and all onboard will "observe all current Covid guidance from HM Government, respect all up to date RYA guidance on Covid, have read and comply with the POFROC Risk Assessment and Mitigations for Covid-19 and that I am (and my crew is) currently symptom free from the Covid Coronavirus. In addition, if I/we subsequently test positive for Covid-19 or am/are in contact with someone else who does, within 14 days of racing then I/we shall contact POFROC immediately to notify them of this".

Attached to this email is also an official LIMA notice, highlighting the changes.

If you have any questions, please get in touch via email:

Happy Sailing
